Both tools can stop a coding session with a short window and a weekly cap. The check commands, sharing rules, and public reset story differ. Verify in Settings — this table is a map, not your remaining quota.

Details: Codex limits · Claude Code limits. Reset times: Codex · Claude Code.
On both products, a short-window refresh can leave you blocked if the weekly bar is at 0. Read the banner: Codex “weekly limit reached” vs Claude “resets Mon …”. Then open the matching dashboard — do not assume the other tool’s clock.
Plan names, model families, and whether a weekly cap applies are controlled by OpenAI and Anthropic. If a row above disagrees with Settings this week, trust Settings. Last reviewed against public help docs in September 2026.
AI Limit
Track usage windows and reset times with AI Limit.
Also compare Codex vs Cursor. Cursor resets monthly, not on a 5-hour window.
AI Limit monitors public Codex reset signals and sends an alert directly to your iPhone. It does not read your private ChatGPT / Codex remaining usage.
