First identify which limit fired. The 5-hour window and the weekly allowance can block you independently.
/status. The official surfaces tell you which allowance is exhausted and the reset time for that window. A third-party page cannot see your remaining quota.
This usually feels like a mid-session stop. You may still have weekly usage left. Official guidance: you can hit the five-hour limit before five hours have passed.
/status.This is the longer wall. A 5-hour reset will not help if weekly remaining is already 0. Developers often search “weekly limit for Codex: when does it end/reset?” because the weekly clock is account-specific.
AI Limit
Track public Codex reset announcements and usage windows with AI Limit instead of refreshing Settings after every session.
If the current turn already started, Codex may finish that turn subject to fair-use limits. After that turn, the limit banner is the source of truth.
A “did Codex reset today?” result on the live tracker is a public announcement. It does not prove your private weekly or 5-hour window refreshed. Always re-check Settings after a public event.
If the timestamp looks wrong after a refresh, see Codex limit didn’t reset.
AI Limit monitors public Codex reset signals and sends an alert directly to your iPhone. It does not read your private ChatGPT / Codex remaining usage.
All Codex pages link back to the Codex Usage Limits & Reset Tracker hub.
