Codex Usage Limits for ChatGPT Plus

Plus includes Codex, but it is not unlimited. You still have a rolling 5-hour window and, on most accounts, a weekly cap.

On ChatGPT Plus, Codex and ChatGPT Work share one included allowance. OpenAI publishes estimated local-message ranges per five-hour window by model — not your remaining quota. Check Settings → Usage or run /status for this account.

What Plus includes

Codex is included with Plus. Usage depends on model, task size, reasoning, and whether the turn runs locally or in the cloud. Cloud chats can consume more of the same five-hour window than a short local message.

Where both windows apply, you need remaining capacity in the 5-hour limit and the weekly limit.

Plus vs Pro
