How to Check Your Codex Usage

Remaining Codex usage is private. The official dashboard and CLI /status are the only numbers that count for your account.

Open Settings → Usage (desktop, web, or CLI) or run /status in an active Codex session. Those surfaces show which window is empty, any credit balance, and the reset time. AI Limit does not log into OpenAI and cannot display your remaining %.

ChatGPT Settings → Usage

  1. Sign in to the same ChatGPT account that runs Codex.
  2. Open Settings → Usage.
  3. Read 5-hour remaining, weekly remaining, credits, and reset timestamps.
  4. If you use Work / Business, confirm the workspace name first.

Codex CLI /status

In an active CLI session, type /status. Official docs treat this as the terminal view of the same usage windows. Start a session first if the command is unavailable.

This is the “how to check” page. The usage tracker explains public reset feeds vs the private dashboard. Reset timestamps: when does Codex reset?

What a public tracker will not show

Public feed: live status · reset history. Plan pages: Plus · Pro.
